LOBBY is Australian design brand Dowel Jones’s first upholstered collection, designed by New York designer Tom Hancocks. At Coming Soon, LOBBY will feature soft, tactile upholstered pieces encapsulated in the brand’s signature tubular steel, and presented in both a physical and digital space.

Dowel Jones is a design brand operating out of Melbourne, Australia. The studio was started in 2013 by Dale Hardiman and Adam Lynch. Dowel Jones is interested in simplifying objects to their bare essentials without compromising on aesthetic values, minimising materials and processes while working with manufacturers involved in the development of everyday materials and objects.

Coming Soon is a furniture design + gift shop founded by Helena Barquet and Fabiana Faria in 2013, right at the intersection of New York’s Lower East Side and Chinatown. Their background working in fine art and high-end design means they’re used to working directly with artists. Many of their relationships with designers started with studio visits, which allowed them to create ongoing conversations and establish a collaborative sense instead of following a traditional vendor-buyer model. This collaborative approach allows Coming Soon to source, fine-tune, and experiment in a way that traditional retail stores cannot, and lends itself to a warmer, more welcoming experience.
